A 17-year-old girl died of burn injuries in Delhi’s Ranhola area, while a man was found hanging in a nearby house, officials said on Wednesday.
According to police, preliminary investigations suggest that the man died by suicide. An inquiry has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding both deaths, a senior officer said, adding that it has been claimed the two were in a relationship.

The girl was rushed to a hospital with severe burn injuries but succumbed during treatment. In a nearby lane close to her residence, a man was found hanging under suspicious circumstances, police said.

Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and investigations are underway to establish the sequence of events and any possible connection between the two incidents.
As per the officer’s statement, the girl allegedly set herself on fire following an argument with her family.
Crime teams have examined both sites and collected forensic evidence, while statements from family members and neighbours are being recorded.
“The cause of the woman’s burns and the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are being probed from all possible angles,” the officer said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further inquiry is in progress, police added.
